Construction Update
The City of Auburn has started construction on a $5 million upgrade to its wastewater treatment. The plant, located off Ophir Road, is being equipped with a state-of-the-art disinfection system that uses ultraviolet light to disinfect the wastewater prior to discharge into Auburn Ravine Creek.
This upgrade project was required as part of the City’s renewed discharge permit issued by the State of California. After the upgrades are completed, the treated water leaving the plant will be free of nitrogen and it will meet the State’s stringent “unrestricted reuse” standards for recycled water.
Construction is expected to take about one year. Check back often to see photographs of our progress through 2009 and 2010.
