FREE Pick-up of FOG and Universal/Electronic Waste
Residents in the city limits may request one free pick-up of FOG and/or Universal/Electronic Waste each month. Call Recology at 530-885-3735 to arrange for curbside collection.

FOG Disposal Guidelines

  • One Quart or Less: Place any cooled container of FOG in your trash. Plastic bags, tin cans and jars with lids are acceptable. Visit the Public Works department for a FREE collection bag.
  • Between One and Seven Quarts: Place FOG in a plastic container with a screw-top lid (peanut butter jars are a good example).Write "Food Grease" on the container and set on your curb on the appointed day. Call Recology to set the appointment.
  • Over Seven Quarts:Large quantities must be taken to Western Placer Waste Management Authority for FREE disposal. Place cooled FOG in a plastic container with a tight fitting lid.

Universal/Electronic Waste Disposal Guidelines

  • Request a pickup one time per month by calling Recology at 530-885-3735. Place the items on your curb on the appointed day.
  • Acceptable items:household batteries, mercury thermometers, fluorescent lamps and electronic devices including television and computer monitors, computers, printers, VCRs, cell phones, telephones, radios, portable DVD players with video screens and microwave ovens.
  • Large appliances are not accepted.

Placer County residents not within the city limits may take waste to WPWMA or Recology Auburn Placer Transfer Station.
